Great Season For Snow Park NZ

Snow Park NZ’s final fiesta weekend bought a successful season to a close on the weekend, with the resort experiencing a good increase in visitor numbers from the previous year.

The world class terrain park received a 12% increase in visitors during the 2007 season and continues its pattern of growth year on year.

Sam Lee, Snow Park NZ manager said he was delighted with the way the season had gone and the growing popularity of the terrain park. “Since opening five years ago the park has experienced a massive growth in visitor numbers. By expanding our on field and off field facilities we are attracting more people and maintaining Snow Park NZ as a premiere freestyle ski and snowboard resort,” he said.

The long consistent cold dry weather throughout winter was perfect for Snow Park's new state of the art snowmaking system which ensured the terrain park had 100% coverage throughout, despite the region receiving less than average natural snow fall.

During the 2007 season, Snow Park NZ hosted top international snowboarders and freestyle skiers for major international competitions, including the Burton New Zealand Open, the Billabong Slopestyle Jam and the Volkl New Zealand Freeski Open. Coverage from the events was broadcast around the world, raising the profile of the world-class facilities available in New Zealand.

With the development of the new Woolshed Bar and Restaurant, a successful off-snow events calendar was introduced this year which included the MTV Snow Jam, movie premieres and many event after-parties.

Once the snow has melted and the ground dried out Snow Park becomes a haven for downhill mountain bikers. Dirt Park NZ uses the freestyle trails to create challenging and fun features for the bikers to play on. Operating five days a week (Wednesday to Sun) the park will open on December 27th until late Feb.
