New manager for the Adam Festival of Chamber Music

New manager for the Adam Festival of Chamber Music

The Nelson Music Festival Trust has announced the appointment of Roger Lloyd as its General Manager. The trust is responsible for the presentation of the biennial Adam Festival of Chamber Music, which has achieved international recognition since its inception in 1992.

Roger Lloyd is a music consultant and events manager based in Wellington, with a significant involvement in the musical life of that city, along with experience in the management of music performances with groups ranging from symphony orchestras to string quartets. He will present the next Adam Festival of Chamber Music in Nelson between 23 January and 10 February 2009.

''The Adam Festival attracts leading musicians and enthusiastic audiences from beyond Nelson and outside New Zealand,² said Trust Chair Colleen Marshall. ³It has a substantial impact on the economic and musical life of the city. Roger is looking forward to becoming immersed in the planning of Festival 2009 and getting to know the Nelson stakeholders and sponsors who are so important to its success.''

Mr Lloyd will continue to be based in Wellington, but will travel to Nelson on a monthly basis, stepping up the frequency of his visits closer to the festival.

He said for someone passionate about chamber music, the position was a Œdream job¹ presenting great music in a wonderful environment: ³I am looking forward to getting to know the Nelson region and those involved in supporting the Adam festival within that community.² The Nelson Music Festival Trust is a Charitable Trust responsible for the presentation of the Adam Festival of Chamber Music.
