Skycity Rings In New Year With Triple The Bang
Skycity rings in the new year with three times the bang
Last night, more than 30,000 revellers partied their way through the last few hours of 2007 and welcomed 2008 with three times the bang at Skycity Auckland.
An evening of non-stop entertainment, which included thrilling performances in the Atrium with fluorescent silk dancers and mystical creatures, as well as some body rocking beats in the bars and on the casino's Main Gaming Floor, culminated in a fireworks display from the top of the Sky Tower. The fireworks were three times bigger than ever before and simulcast live on radio to a six-minute rendition of the cult classic 'Oh Fortuna'.
David Christian, General Manager - Skycity Auckland, who was at the base of the Sky Tower with the thousands of partygoers to enjoy the fireworks, said:
"As the clock approached midnight, people from all over the city were able to enjoy the most spectacular display of pyrotechnics we've ever seen from the Sky Tower. The mood was celebratory and it was a magical way to welcome in the New Year."
The party continued all night with the bars and dance floors pumping until the early hours of the morning.
"It was great to see everyone out and having such an incredible time." Mr Christian added.
