Local visitors' guide flies off shelves
A travel guide produced by volunteer community publishers Blueskin Media has been snapped up in less than two weeks and is now in its second print run.
The 'Blueskin Bay Free Visitors' Guide' was produced with the help of a Waikouaiti Coast Community Board grant and aims to help tourists and holidaymakers find their way around the coastal settlements of Warrington and Waitati.
The Guide is unusual in that almost all the content is from the "open source" websites Wikipedia and Wikitravel: this makes updates easy and convenient.
The second print run has attracted several paying advertisers and it is hoped that by next summer the publication will be self-sustaining. The Guide is available from Blueskin General Store and Blueskin Bay Library, both in Waitati.
