Dance may be over, but 0800WHATSUP still reeling in the calls

The dance may be over, but 0800WHATSUP is still reeling in the calls, thanks to the efforts of Peter Urlich in the TVNZ series Dancing with the Stars.

“Peter’s sponsorship of 0800WHATSUP in the series has brought the free telephone counselling service for five to 18 year olds to the attention of many more adults as well as the children and young people it works with,” said Grant Taylor, Executive Director of 0800WHATSUP.

“Although 0800WHATSUP is well known by children and young people – reflected in the 1500 calls it receives each day – it still has a low profile amongst adults,” said Grant, “so we were really delighted to have the service acknowledged and promoted by someone of Peter’s calibre.”

“We wish Peter all the best.”

Enquiries and offers of help from adults who have heard about the service from Dancing with the Stars have increased noticeably since the series has been running.
