From City Gallery Wellington to Tribeca Film Festival
New York film director in town to present Guest of Cindy Sherman
New Zealand has the honour of hosting feature documentary Guest of Cindy Sherman before its official “world premiere” at the 2008 Tribeca Film Festival, April 23 - May 4. Director Paul H-O is bringing his film to Wellington and will present the screening on Wednesday 2 April, 6pm in the City Gallery Cinema.
Drawn into a world of art, love and fame, cable-TV art commentator and videographer Paul H-O must confront his own ego and identity in this personal and humorous documentary. The film explores the complicated relationship that results between H-O and media shy Sherman after he interviews her while offering unprecedented access to the reclusive Cindy Sherman and a unique view of the New York art world.
Guest of Cindy Sherman also includes appearances by Danny Devito, John Waters; artists Cecily Brown, Sean Landers, Eric Fischl, Laurie Simmons and Robert Longo; critic Roberta Smith; art museum director David Ross; collector Eli Broad and Sherman's longtime gallerists Helene Winer and Janelle Reiring as well as clips from H-O's irreverent cult cable show.
Part of the official selection for the 2008 Tribeca Film Festival World Documentary Feature Competition, Guest of Cindy Sherman’s co-director is veteran filmmaker Tom Donahue.
