Fancy dress for around brunner
The Around Brunner Cycle event on in Greymouth next Saturday 19 April will not only see all shapes and sizes on the start line, but anyone from Elvis to Austin Powers might also be spotted.
Geoff Gabites, from Adventure South, is behind a new fancy dress category for this year’s event.
“Last year I kept myself amused by reading the bibs of the many, many riders who passed me, ignoring my chat up lines. This year I’m determined to make my ride even more enjoyable so have decided to create a new fancy-dress category - and reward the winner with a great prize.”
Organisers hope to inject some of the fun of the highly successful Wellington rugby sevens tournament to the roads of the West Coast.
“The event is as much about having some fun as it is about completing the journey around Lake Brunner,” Event Director Dale Coulter said.
“The fancy dress category should add some colour and even more personality to the event – we hear there is some real effort going into some of the outfits for the day.”
Around Brunner covers 130 km starting and finishing in central Greymouth.
“It is a good honest West Coast workout that anyone can do,” Coulter said.
Competitors can still enter online at www.aroundbrunner.co.nz where there is further information about the event.
