Auckland Wind Orchestra celebrates the colour and diversity of French music

Vibrant and memorable - colourful French music is the theme for the Auckland Wind Orchestra's upcoming at the Holy Trinity Church in Devonport. Ewan Clark, the orchestra’s newly appointed Director of Music, will conduct a programme which includes Milhaud's Suite Francais, a staple of original wind repertoire, Faure's well known Pavane, as well as a lively Mazurka by Emmanuel Chabrier.

Debussy's Marche Ecossaise, originally written in the form of a piano duet at the request of a Scottish general, provides a lively and characterful opening to the concert. Also featured are Ravel's insistent Bolero, an experiment in the summing of musical forces, and Pavane by the same composer with the haunting horn solo performed by John Cheah.

The Auckland Wind Orchestra returns to the Holy Trinity Church in Devonport, with its warm, projecting acoustics truly complimentary to the orchestra's timbres.

The concert begins at 3pm on Sunday the 17th of August, at the Holy Trinity Church, 20 Church St,Devonport. Door sales are $15, or $10 for students and seniors. Parking is available on Church Rd,as well as on surrounding streets.
