3 News Wins At The Maori Language Week Awards
TV3 is delighted by its latest success at the Maori Language Awards 2008. For the fourth year running the network has won the Television category for the use of Te Reo in the media. For the second time TV3 was also judged winner of one of the two Supreme Awards presented.
The network won the awards last night in Wellington at the Maori Language Awards 2008 ceremony run by the Maori Language Commission - Te Taura Whiri I te Reo Maori.
“It’s an acknowledgement of our efforts to reflect the diversity of the country and the fact we have two national languages,” said Mark Jennings, TV3’s Head of News and Current Affairs.
“I’m particularly delighted for the staff who put in so much of the hard work,” he adds.
During Maori Language Week the network broadcast 15 stories in Te Reo across its news programmes, SUNRISE, 3 NEWS and NIGHTLINE.
TV3 also broadcast sports promotions in Te Reo and language initiatives during its weather breaks and on its website – www.3News.co.nz
