Trio Chosen as Inaugural Emerging Artists

Trans–Tasman Trio Chosen as Inaugural Emerging Artists

Three young artists, two Kiwis and an Australian, have been selected as the inaugural Kim Crawford Wines Emerging Artists. The three are ready to embark on a whirlwind four city tour of galleries in both Australia and New Zealand in September.

Announcing the trio, co-founder of Kim Crawford Wines, Erica Crawford said “These three young but rapidly emerging artists have a very strong style and expression which made them irresistible to me. I am delighted to have them as the inaugural Kim Crawford Emerging Artists and proud to bring them to art lovers in Auckland, Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.

We reviewed many talented artists and these three were chosen because of their undeniable ability and skill. Both their courage and their ability to define a perspective is inspirational. Their work is an invitation to consider our world from another’s perspective and I believe these talented artists will also challenge the audience perspective.”

The three artists are Melbourne based Honor Bradbeer, Dunedin’s Greg Lewis and Pete Wheeler also from Dunedin but currently working from his Auckland studio. All three have works held in public and private collections and have already exhibited internationally. Through this series of wine and art gallery events, they will discuss their exhibited works with gallery guests while sipping a range of Kim Crawford premium wines.

Preparing for the tour, Global Brand Manager for Kim Crawford Nina Stojnic said “Kim Crawford Wines values self expression and has been a long time supporter of individuality through different art forms. There are a lot of synergies between wine and art and the Emerging Artists events explore these similarities of expression, creativity, craftsmanship and sense of place.

The dynamic and individual expression of our artists matches what we’re pouring at each show and we invite art and wine appreciators to join us and experience Kim Crawford and our inaugural Emerging Artists.”
