Style meets Performance at London Fashion Week

London, September 2008 – Successfully grown since 2005, the distinctive fitness fashion collection for women introduced the new spring/summer 2009 collection at an energetic, sport performance presentation at ‘Stella’s Gym’ during London Fashion Week. The brand also introduced the new adidas by Stella McCartney personal trainer, Tracy Anderson,

“This collection tries to provide for all the needs of a modern woman. Style meets performance is crucial for women today, and I’ve tried to address this in my most recent collection. Remembering you’re alive is key, health is wealth!” says Stella McCartney.

I need to have breathable apparel and footwear that is comfortable, supportive and well cushioned as my workouts tend to be intensive and exhausting! __The new spring/summer 09 range continues to re-define and challenge traditional sport silhouettes with the new collection featuring sheer, lightweight performance fabrics and constructed design features taking inspiration from Atlantic sailing adventures in the new Gym Studio range and ornate English Edwardian petticoats and nightwear in the prints and cuts of the Tennis line. This season, the best-selling Running range mixes energetic and bold block colours with sheer, futuristic lightweight fabrics with drawstring detail to create gathering and volume for stylish, sophisticated silhouettes.

Alongside this season’s latest Gym Studio, Tennis and Running collections, the range continues to offer the categories Golf, Gym Yoga, Gym Dance, Swim and Cover Ups.

The spring/summer 09 collection hits retail in around 600 stores in February 2009, including high-end department stores - such as Harrods, Holt Renfrew, Nordstrom - as well as adidas Sport Performance stores and selected sports retailers all around the world. Prices range from around 15 GBP (20 Euro) for the Tennis wristbands and up to 210 GBP (260 Euro) for the Golf Performance Jacket.

Successfully grown since 2005 the adidas by Stella McCartney collaboration was launched with a spring/summer collection in February 2005 and remains a unique concept for women. The collection remains deeply rooted in sport; the highly functional sports range consists of apparel, footwear and accessory pieces in Golf, Running, Gym Dance, Gym Yoga, Gym Studio, Tennis, Swim and Wintersports fusing style with top-level technology for maximum performance: FormotionTM and Clima365 representing the highlight technologies within apparel and Supernova within footwear.

Tracy Anderson is the latest addition to the adidas by Stella McCartney family, she wears key styles from the Gym Studio and Gym Dance lines.

The Gym collection is split into three segments: Studio, Dance and Yoga.

– The Gym Studio collection features elegant feminine silhouettes, constructed design features, rope detail trims and ultra lightweight performance fabrics inspired by Atlantic sailing adventures to create a laid-back layered look. A highlight for this season is the CU Studio Jacket.
– The Gym Dance collection takes inspiration from vintage lace and lingerie; with sophisticated patterns and feminine detailing, intricate smocking details, delicate trimmings and stunning perforated laser cut patterns and mélange fabrics. A highlight of the season is the new Ballerina shoe.
– The Gym Yoga range see’s Tibetan and Mongolian influences playing an important role in the design inspiration for the season; highlights include silhouettes inspired by men’s vintage shirts, long johns and vests with intricate woven trims, handcrafted inspired stitching and soft, tactile fabrics for maximum comfort. A highlight of the season is the Yoga Embellished Tee featuring ornate Tibetan inspired embroidery.

This season’s Golf range features smart tailoring and men’s military detailing combined with elegant, soft tulip sleeved polos creating a sharp but ultra feminine look. Highlights for the season include soft stretch fabrics and sophisticated, tonal flower prints in the CU Golf Printed Pretty Tee. The new Yilah is a high-performance golf shoe that provides waterproof technology and protection against the elements, with stylish men’s brogue detailing and smart material mix details.

The Running line mixes bold, block shades and an energetic colour palette with sheer, futuristic lightweight fabrics and drawstring detail to create gathering and volume for a hip hitting, stylish silhouette. A seasonal highlight includes the Running Performance Degrade ¾ Tight in lotus green to white with distinctive colour fading effects and bold stitching detail; the tight also features adidas Climalite technology and Climalite fabric.

Key silhouettes in the Tennis collection are inspired by the playful unique twists of Stella’s own line; combining feminine rouching and gathering, delicate lace appliqués and elegant fluted sleeves. Ornate English Edwardian lingerie and vintage nightwear contrast with jersey and cotton shorts reminiscent of men’s long johns and empire fits. Highlights include a pretty empire fit dress featuring lavish Edwardian embroidery and vintage lingerie inspired details. The collection also features adidas Climalite technology plus footwear including the Taju shoe which will be worn by adidas by Stella McCartney athlete, Maria Kirilenko.

Swim this season is inspired by corsetry and 1920’s beach wear; mesh inserts create a sculpted, graphical body shape mixed with low cut leg pants, gathering and shorts reminiscent of bloomers. The playful colour palette combines flamboyant summery patterns with handcrafted finishing and embroidery. Highlights for this season include the loose, low waisted CU Swim Short and the Swim Performance Suit.

The Organic range features three apparel pieces made from 100% organically grown cotton and footwear using sustainable materials which achieve the best rating within the adidas grading guidelines for environmentally friendly materials. The uniquely ‘natural’coloured apparel is ideal for warming up as well as cooling down and can be easily worn to and from the gym. Seasonal highlights include the CU Organic Summer Tee and the sustainable Ballerina shoe.
