Shihad Announce Summer Tour

Shihad Declaring The New Zealand Summer Well And Truly Open For Business And Pleasure

You know it's not summer until SHIHAD hits the hotspots. Rounding off one of the most successful years in their long history, the band announce two holiday shows in the Xmas season, one each in the North and South Island.

To thoroughly crank up the heat, they are joined by four of New Zealand's top acts spread evenly across two un-missable gigs.

After topping the charts in 2008 with the Tui-winning Beautiful Machine, SHIHAD is to hit Coroglen on December 28 for an epic post-Xmas/pre-New Year's bash. Joining them will be Cambridge's favourite sons THE DATSUNS, whose fourth album Headstunts has been hailed as their finest, hardest-hitting work yet. With The Datsuns now resident in Europe, the chances they get to bring it all back home are few and far between: and there is surely no better way to experience them as when they share a stage with Shihad.

Shihad are also privileged to welcome onto the Coroglen bill the nation's favourite band, grunge masters DEJA VOODOO ‹ indisputably the finest and most universally-acclaimed practitioners of rock's dark arts. Deja Voodoo have just completed work on their third album, which the band themselves describe as "a masterpiece" that will show most other music up as "pathetic" and "un-rocking". So far, this is the only confirmed appearance of Deja Voodoo for the summer.

On Jan 2, SHIHAD head for the mighty South, to play the Lake Hawea Motor Inn. Accompanying them on a chart-topping bill truly announcing 2009's arrival are SUPERGROOVE and ELEMENO P. After their surprise return to the stage, SUPERGROOVE reminded New Zealand how much they'd been missed by undertaking a national tour. The years melted away, and there is very little argument that Supergroove's jubilant funk/soul/pop is timeless, peerless party music.

The Lake Hawea lineup is rounded out by ELEMENO P, the fiery power-pop quartet who have ascended the ranks to become one of the decade's real success stories. Their self-titled long-player climbed to number 5 in the NZ charts earlier this year, and the group are one of the most explosive chart acts in the country.
