Ledger $1.12 To Win Golden Globe

DEC 15, 2008

Ledger $1.12 To Win Golden Globe - And $1.33 To Make It An Oscars Double!

Late Australian actor Heath Ledger is a raging $1.12 favourite with top entertainment bookmaker Centrebet to be named Best Supporting Actor at next month's Golden Globe Awards for his role as the "Joker" in The Dark Knight, and has also tumbled into $1.33 to repeat the dose at the Academy Awards!

Ledger is the hottest favourite among Centrebet's categories, leaving "Tropic Thunder" duo Robert Downey Jnr ($9.00) and Tom Cruise ($26.00) out the door in 2009!

"Ledger has terrific momentum to be honoured posthumously at the Globes, and as we all know, these awards are great forerunners to the Oscars night," Centrebet media chief Neil Evans said!

Evans said the money continues to come for Ledger to win a posthumous Oscar, now in to $1.33, after weeks of heavy betting had seem him plunge down from an opening price of $1.90 to $1.40. "You can now get $3.35 an Oscar doesn't come for Ledger such has been the support across Australia and around the world!"

"Slumdog Millionaire" is Centrebet's $2.25 favourite to be named Best Picture, veteran Meryl Streep ($2.75) is tipped to carry off the Best Actress gong for her role in "Doubt," while the incomparable Sean Penn is a $2.50 fancy to be named Best Actor for his role in "Milk"!

* Meanwhile, band of the moment Coldplay is a $2.50 favourite on Centrebet to win Song of ther Year at the Grammy Awards, and a $2.75 co-fancy alongside Lil Wayne to win Best Album!
