Christmas Fairy cleared for take-off at St Matthew’s
The Children’s Christmas Eve service
at St Matthew-in-the-City is always full of surprises and
this year will be no exception. Assisting Santa, who
descends from the ceiling of the church, will be the
Christmas Fairy who with wings, wand and fairy dust will fly
over the heads of the children gathered.
Each year St Matthew’s welcomes hundreds of Auckland’s children to a lively service that features stories, carols and visit from Santa. According to Archdeacon Glynn Cardy, “The most unpredictable and delightful part of the service is when the children interview Santa and this year they will also get to question the Christmas Fairy.”
The service is at 7pm Christmas Eve at St Matthew-in-the-City, corner of Hobson and Wellesley Streets, Auckland Central.
Other Christmas Eve festivities include special music at 10pm, the Candlelight Carol Service at 11pm and the Midnight Mass. On Christmas Day there will be services at 8am and 10am.
