Feelers, Elemeno P, Jordon Luck Rock Tui Brewery
Date: 23rd January 2009
MEDIA RELEASE - The Feelers, Elemeno P, Jordon Luck, and Bill and Ben to Rock Tui Brewery
The Tui Brewery Girls have devised a great plan - combine New Zealand's favourite bands and New Zealand's favourite drop for a wicked day of festivities in front of the iconic Tui Brewery Tower in Mangatainoka. The Feelers, Elemeno P, Jordon Luck, and Bill and Ben will rock Tui Brewery. Also part of the fun will be the Tui Brewery Girls, helicopter drops, giveaways and more.
On February 28th, the Tui Brewery will be transformed into the best little concert venue in the land - celebrating all things Kiwi and raising money for up to 15 local community groups, who will provide the food and man the bars - getting most of their annual fundraising covered in one day. "Here's our chance to celebrate the best things about a Kiwi summer," says Tui brand manager Jarrod Bear.
"Bands playing off the back of a truck, drinking Tui, summer sun, lying on the grass, an afternoon session, BBQs, pig on the spit, brewery girls, swing ball, sunscreen and sunburn, floppy hats, leaners made from pallets, sing-alongs with the music and stories to tell the grandchildren one day.
Chairman of the Mangatainoka Domain Board and dubbed the 'Default Mayor of Mangatainoka' Alistair McDougall is pleased the local community will benefit from the event. "Small Town, Big Sounds will be great for the locals. It will make a big dent in the fundraising goals for many community groups and will give them some days off from the usual dollar-a-pop sausage sizzles.
We're very fortunate to have the
brewery in our town," McDougall says.
Jarrod Bear expects
more than 5,000 people to attend the gig, with the majority
of the crowd from the Tararua, Manawatu, Wairarapa and
Hawke's Bay. However, Bear also believes he'll be greeting
groups of lads from all over the country. "Tui beer is
loved nationwide - and what better time for a Tui Brewery
pilgrimage than when Elemeno P, The Feelers and Jordon Luck
take the stage in front of the Tui Tower," says Bear.
Bear says he hopes the concert will become an annual event.
