Rhythm and Verse

Join us on the Top Floor of Lopdell House for the first of our new evenings of words and music with some of New Zealand's best poets and local musicians.
This month we feature musicians Sally Stockwell ('Ghostyhead') and Kevin Timm (an established jazz guitarist) playing together. Our guest poets will be the internationally published Murray Edmond and Siobhan Harvey, as well as introducing Rosetta Allan and Daniel Larsen.
Entry $15 or $10 for Friends of Lopdell House Gallery.

Art on the Beach Workshops

This year as part of our Art on the Beach event we will be having a lantern performance at dusk. As a lead up to this event we will be running a series of lantern workshops with local schools and an Open Studio workshop. The West Coast Gallery will also host a free lantern workshop for the local community on Saturday March 7 from 1 - 5pm for adults and children at Piha's Barnett Hall.

Open Studio Weekend: Children's Lantern Workshop
Join us the studio to create a vibrant fish lantern to take to Piha beach the following weekend for Art on the Beach and take part in a magical lantern performance at dusk. Bookings essential.
Age: 6+, Fee: $5/student morning tea provided

Art on the Beach
Art on the Beach 2009 will feature a spectacular laser light performance at Lion Rock, Piha. Children's workshops in the weeks leading up to the event will create fantasy lanterns for a musical performance on the beach from 7.45pm.
A special bus will run from Titirangi for the event (subject to sufficient bookings), tickets are available from Lopdell House Gallery for $15 return. Bookings are essential via phone 817 8087 x201 or call into the gallery shop.
Art on the Beach 2009 is part of the Auckland Fringe Festival and the Titirangi Festival of Music.

Opening hours The gallery is open daily from 10am - 4.30pm, except Good Friday, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Years Day, Anzac Day morning and during exhibition installation. Admission is free thanks to the support of Waitakere City Council.
