Tui Brewery Girls tune in to help community
They’re big on fun. And the Tui Brewery Girls love getting behind a good cause! So Saturday February 28th is shaping up to be the biggest day in their bulging calendar.
The Tui Brewery in Mangatainoka is hosting some of the country’s biggest sounds this weekend (Feb. 28) and the local community groups stand to benefit.
Tui chap Jarrod Bear says tickets are flying out the door.
“With a week still to go we’re about 70 per cent capacity so we’re looking at contingency plans to increase capacity for the expected sales this week and the walk-up crowd on the day.
“It’s the first event of this scale at the brewery and we’re pretty rapt with the response –we’ve got punters from as far off as Auckland and Dunedin coming to the gig. It’s exciting as having 5,000 concert goers at Mangatainoka is like Auckland’s population swelling to 100 million.”
Bear says there is plenty of room for campers and the Tui Brewery Girls are happy with the way concert-goers are choosing public transport options to get to the venue.
“Using Tranzit’s bus service is not only a responsible option but also a practical and fun way to get to and from the gig – so far a third of the punters have opted to do so, so we’re rapt in that too.”
Playing at the event are some of the country’s biggest bands - The Feelers, Elemeno P, Jordon Luck, with TV3’s Bill and Ben from Pulp Sport being the MC’s on the day, and Bear says the entertainment will not stop there as concert goers enjoy the summer sun on the grass.
The entire event supports Mangatainoka community
groups with 11 local community groups will be manning and
profiting from the bars and food stalls.
All the right
ingredients are there for it to be a fantastic day in small
town Mangatainoka!
