AUCKLAND, MONDAY FEBRUARY 23, 2009: With three albums currently in the Aria Top 40 Album Chart and their most recent album (Only By The Night) breaking the seven times platinum mark, Kings Of Leon will perform via satellite from TSB Arena, Wellington NZ for the Vodafone MTV Australia Awards 2009. In addition is Adelaide-born Sia, who has recently risen to critical acclaim after performing on ‘Late Night Show with David Letterman’ and securing the “Number 1 Pop Album of 2008” on US iTunes. Sia returns home to perform a single from her debut album, “Some People Have Real Problems,” live at the Vodafone MTV Australia Awards 2009 before embarking on her first ever Australian solo tour.

Kings of Leon are up for two awards this year, Best Rock Video and Best Video for ‘Sex on Fire’ and Sia is nominated for Best Independent Spirit.
Voting will commence on Monday February 23, 2009. Viewers will be able to register and place their votes online at www.mtv.com.au/vodafonemtvawards, with New Zealand viewers voting for the Best Kiwi award at www.mtv.co.nz until voting closes on Wednesday March 25, 2009.
The Vodafone MTV Australia Awards 2009 will broadcast live from the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, Darling Harbour, on MTV New Zealand, Friday March 27, 9:30pm (NZ Time) Red Carpet, 10:30pm (NZ Time) main show.
