Intl poker stars to compete in NZ Championships

Christchurch Casino announces international poker stars to compete in New Zealand Poker Championships

Christchurch Casino has confirmed international poker players Eric Assadourian and David Borg to compete in the New Zealand Poker Championships to be held at Christchurch Casino March 28 – April 5 2009.

Assadourian, who has played on the Asia Pacific Poker Tour, says he is always a starter for the New Zealand Poker Champs. “It’s great playing at Christchurch Casino. The New Zealand Poker Championships are incredibly well run; great tournament structure, fantastic people and an amazing atmosphere.”

David Borg, winner of the 2008 New Zealand Poker Championships, is returning to Christchurch Casino to try and reclaim his title. “Last year was such a great experience. Winning the title was an absolute honour and I am coming back this year to keep that trans-tasman challenge going – hopefully I get to hold on to the championship title.”

Australian based Assadourian and Borg, who have both previously won the New Zealand Poker Championship title, are back this year to play against up to 560 competitors to win a share of up to $720,000 in prize earnings.
