Oranges are for half time - families are for life!
Families Day (May 15) is a great opportunity to take some time out of our busy lives and focus on family time. This year the theme is 'Mothers and Families - challenges in the changing world.'
With this in mind, Plunket and the New Zealand Rugby Union (NZRU) take this opportunity to remind kiwi families of the support that is available out there.
"Support can come from a range of sources such as family, friends and neighbours. But can also be from organisations such as Plunket, who offer a range of support and information on the health and well being of children under 5 and their families," says Plunket's clinical advisor, Erin Beatson.
Erin also says, "Parenting is one of the most difficult, but also one of the most rewarding and important jobs in our lifetime. It's easy to get caught up in the daily challenges that come with parenting, and forget that there are people out there who can support you".
Families Day is based on a resolution from the United Nations General Assembly to promote the importance of families and the issues relating to them.
