Stratos goes inside the North Korea row
Stratos Television’s live access to Al Jazeera English will today give New Zealand viewers another window to the diplomatic fallout over the nuclear test and missile launching carried out in North Korea.
Screening at 5.30pm tonight on Stratos, Al Jazeera’s Anand Naidoo looks at the developing row and talks to Alejandro Cao de Benos, the President of the Korean Friendship Association and an advocate of North Korea since 1990. De Benos is currently an honorary special delegate of North Korea's committee for cultural relations with foreign countries.
There’s been worldwide condemnation of the underground explosion carried out on May 25 and China – a country North Korea considers an ally – has demanded that Pyongyang stop its actions and return to six-party talks. Announcing the test, the North Korean state media said it would “contribute to defending the sovereignty of the country and the nation…ensuring peace and security on the Korean Peninsula”.
Stratos Television broadcasts nationwide via Sky Digital (Channel 89), Freeview (Channel 21) and TelstraClear cable.
