D-Day
Remembered.
D-day will be commemorated at a lunch at Homewood in Karori tomorrow to mark the 65th anniversary of the D-day landings. About 17 British and New Zealand veterans will attend the lunch hosted by the British High Commissioner.
The three New Zealand veterans, who will attend, served in the Royal Navy and the Royal Air force units that took part in the fighting for the Normandy beachheads.
The High Commissioner, George Fergusson said hosting an event like this was an honour.” Today’s generation owes an enormous amount to the men who took part in these landings.
