What's On With Sandwiches
What's On With Sandwiches
Can you believe June is over
already? What happened there! At least the shortest day is
now behind us and it's all down hill till summer... (ok,
that's a little optimistic - and hey what's wrong with
winter anyway?)
Lets focus on the here and now. July is
jam packed with great gigs, here's a taste of what we're
excited about:
Friday July 10: Noise Control
Saturday
July 11: Monkey Business Mid-Winter Vodka Party
Friday
July 17: Massey Reorientation party with Nick Thayer / Dick
Johnson / Optimus Gryme / and more.
Saturday July 18:
Pitch Black
Friday July 24: Concord Dawn
Saturday July
25: Aural Trash
Friday July 31: Minuit
Solid!
But wait, there's still one more. A very exciting little gig we have just confirmed yesterday and are all buzzing about here in the office. Wednesday (yes, Wednesday) July 29th we will be hosting Warp Recording artist Mark Pritchard. Mark is a bit of a legend - previously one half of the Jedi Knights with Tom Middleton - and experimental music producer par excellence. Keep the date free and don't miss out on this one. You can check out Marks myspace page here. Tickets will go on sale next week.
Right, the here and now. What's on this week and weekend:
In the bar:
Wednesday (thats
tonight) - Live Jazz with the Nick Tipping Trio.
You know
the score with this one by now. Haven't been? Why
not?
Band on from 8pm, bookings recommended for
dinner.
Thursday - Rumpus Room.
This week Wade and Stu
have roped in a couple of special guests by the names of
Jefe and Lisa to spin some old funk, new soul, alt country,
traditional blues and gospel spirituals. They in turn have
roped in a special live vocalist... and so it grows. Who
knows what might happen. Come and join the fun.
2 for 1
pizzas all night, Dj's from 7pm. Free entry.
In the club:
Friday - Rhombus.
Get ready to shake off those
mid winter blues as Wellington favourites Rhombus bring
their full live band to rock the club with a South Pacific
brew of dub n' bass, hip-hop, soul, funk, and roots-reggae.
Expect the usual energetic performance with a few extra
bells and whistles to shake off that winter
chill.
Tickets only $15+bf. Bargain. This will be
hot.
Saturday - TREi.
Another local lad enjoying some
global success TREi is celebrating the release of his debut
album 'Innuendo'. Holding down a consistent DJ schedule
throughout New Zealand, Australia and most recently Europe,
TREi more than comfortably shares the stage with the likes
Andy C, Hype, Zinc, Mampi Swift, Concord Dawn, Pendulum and
others on a regular basis. Come down and get a taste of what
all the fuss is
about!
