New Zealand’s Richest Non-Fiction Award

Last Chance To Win New Zealand’s Richest Non-Fiction Award

Applicants have until 15 July to be in the running for one of two $35,000 non-fiction writing prizes.

The CLL Awards, now in their eighth year have enabled more than 11 works of national importance to be published.

This year, thanks to a CLL Award, a literary biography about CK Stead by writer and academic, Judith Dell Panny will be published.

Zone of the Marvellous, which examines the place of the Antipodes in Western imagination by critically acclaimed writer Martin Edmond will also be published this year with assistance from a CLL Award.

Entry forms and details are available on-line at www.copyright.co.nz. Applicants must be New Zealand citizens and writers of proven merit.

The Awards - among the highest monetary prizes for works of non-fiction available in New Zealand - have been running since 2002.

The CLL Writers’ Award selection panel convenor, Jenny Jones, says she is looking forward to receiving the final entries to this year’s awards.

‘The selection panel accepts submissions from all non-fiction genres and we carefully consider all relevant proposals.’

The awards are financed from copyright licensing revenue received by CLL from New Zealand institutions on behalf of authors and publishers. They enable New Zealand writers to devote time to specific non-fiction projects.

The winners of this year’s CLL Awards will be announced at a ceremony at The Floating Pavilion, Auckland on 24 September 2009.
