New Zealand V8s get live TV
The MotorSport New Zealand premier championship series, anchored by the BNT V8s, will screen as live on 3 Sport this summer.
Kerry Cooper, general manager of The Motorsport Company, which promotes and organises the series said the opportunity for live TV coverage will create a massive boost for the series.
“They will cover all six rounds with three V8s races shown in the 2-6 pm time slot as live, in the same way V8 Supercars and A1GP are presented.
The racing programme has been changed for the coming season with all three BNT V8s sprint races on Sunday.
“There will be one race from each of the other five championship classes shown in the same programme.
On the Sunday following the round, 3 Sport will deliver in a 3-6pm programme a wrap up of the previous weekend’s V8s racing and show the rest of the races from the other classes.
“This will give New Zealand motorsport more TV time than we have ever had and will provide the immediacy wanted by motorsport fans who are unable to get to the track,” Mr Cooper said.
Colin Caldwell, TV3 sales director was equally delighted with the new arrangement.
“The New Zealand V8s are a premium product and this will give them premium treatment,” he said. “It will put the BNT V8s up with F1, V8 Supercars and Indycars in delivering same day viewing and it will also provide great exposure for the other classes on the programme.”
