What's On With Sandwiches
Hi there,
We'll keep the
sentimental stuff short this week because we have lots of
exciting things to tell you about, but...
We just want to
say a huge thanks to everyone who made it down to our
birthday bash on Saturday. It was without doubt one of the
best parties we've had for a while and possibly the best
birthday yet! We really appreciate the way you turned out
and trust you had as much fun as we did. You guys are
awesome!
Now, we are fond of the saying that there is no rest for the wicked, and we must have been really wicked at some point because despite the fact we're still nursing a headache there is definitely no sign of any rest for us:
This Thursday:
In association with Makers Mark we
proudly present the launch of a new live music night - 'The
Lounge Rock Sessions' featuring live band StirlingHern and a
rotating selection of guests including some of New Zealands
finest musicans. For this first edition the guests include
Dobie Blaze of Fat Freddys fame, Sulu, and Andre Paris. Plus
MC (in the traditional sense) comedian Fergus Aitken. 7pm -
11pm with a simple gold coin entry.
Friday:
Rumble
in the Jungle - Wellington heat. If you haven't heard of
Rumble in the Jungle it's a Drum and Bass DJ competition now
in its 8th year. The event is unique and offers a good time
to both the DJs and the crowds alike. Come down and support
the best in up and coming talent! Hosted by Bass Frontiers,
Deluxe and MC Woody.
Only $10 on the door from
10pm.
Saturday:
It's the next exciting installment of
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang featuring Beni (Ministry of Sound,
Australia).
From a formative age Beni was led astray by a
group of gypsy ravers otherwise known as The Bang Gang
Deejays, and his education at the school of beats, rhymes
and life saw long days and looooooonger nights, spent in
clubs from Paris to Penrith. Following on from The Bang
Gang’s worldwide uprising, Beni went on to form the now
infamous outfit Riot In Belgium and racked up a couple of
number one hits across the globe. Beni now rolls solo under
the Ministry of Sound banner and is constantly one to
watch!
Support from Dirty Needlez, Rach E (Melbourne),
and DJ Perspex. Plus all the usual KKBB bells and whistles,
burlesque dancers, live visuals, and South Gin cocktail
specials. Now that's a big night out!
Tickets: $20+bf from www.sandwiches.co.nz and usual outlets.
But wait,
there's more....
Here's one for your diary that we are
super excited about:
Friday 18th September we very proudly present the next Monkey Business party featuring Audion LIVE aka Matthew Dear.
Matthew Dear is at the forefront of
electronic music and is arguably one of the most influential
figures in the scene. Pushing the boundaries of techno,
Audion's cutting-edge sound stepped into the world spotlight
with the international anthem "Mouth to Mouth" back in
2006. Audion has done remixes for the Chemical
Brothers, Hot Chip, Blackstrobe and many more and is often
atop the charts of DJs worldwide. As Audion
Matthew presents a live show that takes the raw power of
the Audion sound and matches it with a visual experience
designed to thrill, hypnotize and overwhelm
audiences.
We've teamed up with our friends at Audio
Visual Services to ensure that this will be a full audio
visual experience not to miss!
Tickets will go on sale from next week.
In the meantime check out this you tube clip of him playing at the Berlin Love Parade and tell us you aren't as excited as us:
