Outward Bound Unveils Ultimate Fathers Day Gift

If you’re looking for the ultimate Fathers Day present this year, Outward Bound thinks it may have the answer with an eight day Outward course in the picturesque Marlborough Sounds, but there’s a twist – it’s a course for couples.

Outward Bound Marketing Manager, Greg Thomas, said those people looking for something a little different and challenging for dad could really put him through his paces on a couple’s course.

“It’s a great way for families to value dad, get him in touch with the outdoors and give his relationship with his partner a boost at the same time,” Greg said.

“Packed with plenty of challenges, the eight day course is the ultimate shared adventure in one of New Zealand’s most picturesque locations. With our busy life styles adventures and shared experiences are often relegated to the ‘we will do it later pile’.

“While the course is ideal for couples aged 25 years and over, there is no upper age limit provided people can meet the achievable minimum fitness requirement.”

Over the eight days, participants take part in a variety of activities together including: sailing, tramping, kayaking and high ropes.

“Having successfully challenged themselves together couples share a real sense of accomplishment. The course provides participants with an opportunity to discover what is really important to them individually and as a partnership,” Greg said.

Despite being set in one of New Zealand’s most beautiful scenic spots - Anakiwa in the Marlborough Sounds - the eight day course is definitely not a romantic getaway.

“While participants should be prepared for early morning starts, long days and an ongoing series of mental and physical challenges, the rewards at the end of it all will be worth it.”
