NEW STARTING POINT FOR TEMPO

A Tongan brass band, drummers and dancers dressed in amazing costumes (previously seen in WOMAD) will unite for the Tempo, NZ’s Festival of Dance, Opening Day Parade on Saturday September 26th. Anyone and everyone can join in the parade - dress up and dance through the streets with the dance community!

The parade now starts at Princes Wharf in front of Wildfire Restaurant at 1:30pm and will weave its way around the corner to Quay Street, then across Quay Street to QEII Square, crossing over to the Britomart Building, travelling through the Station, out the back entrance to the Britomart Carpark where the activities will begin:

1:50: Welcome from artistic director Mary Jane O’Reilly and Tempo Patron Judith Tizard

2pm: FREE outdoor Salsa lesson by Vivio & Greydis from The Cuban Groove

3pm: FREE outdoor Les Mills BodyJam class by Gandalf Archer

4pm: Spot prize giveaways

Tempo NZ Festival of Dance runs from September 26th to 31st of October and is packed with dance works from the traditional to the contemporary. For more information on this programme of events, or for any of this year’s programme, visit www.tempo.co.nz
