Rally of the North Tomorrow!

                                                T              Friday October 9th, 2009

Rally of the North Tomorrow!

This weekend will see a welcomed return to ‘home roads' for Northland’s Team Dilusi driver Kingsley Thompson after competing on the opposite end of the spectrum at the final round of the Vantage New Zealand Rally Championship (NZRC), held recently in Nelson.

“Some of the roads in the last round were like nothing we had ever seen before; at times it was almost like driving through the middle of a quarry! Although I enjoyed the change I am really looking forward to returning to local roads” commented Thompson.

Since Nelson, Team Dilusi has been doing anything but relaxing, as they volunteered to organise a fundraiser for 14 year old Matteo Stella which was held at the Heliops Hangar last night.

“We had a really enjoyable time with the fundraiser for Matteo and with the generosity of those that contributed and attended we were able to raise over $5000 to aid in his recovery. It was great to push his slogan of ‘Humour kills Tumour’ and to be able to use our profile to help such a great cause” said Thompson.

The team has also been doing promotional work in support of the Rally with car displays and a radio competition for students enabling them the chance to win a ride in a Rally Car Convoy with lunch at McDonalds.

The team now shifts their focus to the Copthorne Rally of the North this weekend and is looking for a good result for those that have contributed to their first NZRC season and all who assisted generously with the fundraiser.

Team Dilusi will keep the Evo 10 in full ‘Group N’ production specification for this Rally to further develop the car and team for the 2010 season.

“We have made really good progress in the second half of the season but are still wanting to build on that with an eye on next season” commented team co-driver Mal Peden.

Follow their progress on the website www.teamdilusi.co.nz which also has a sign up page to get progress reports from the team during the season.
