PRESS RELEASE

Between 1 and 3pm this Saturday, the tables will be set, the aprons and gloves at hand for people to ‘pot-up’ eco-sourced native saplings.

“We really hope people get something out of the ability to help” says Eco-therapy creator and environmental good guy, Ron Eckman.

Mixed with good conversation and a willingness to act, Downtown Eco-therapy is a hands-on element of the 350 Climate Day of Action.

Ron invites young and old to participate, “Anyone can help with just one plant or 10 – it’s all going to make a sizeable contribution to helping New Zealand’s efforts in reaching the target of 350 parts per million particles of carbon dioxide in our atmosphere.”

The native saplings have come from the Southern Environmental Association (SEA) and once potted up will return to the nursery until large enough to be planted in a closed landfill.

Downtown Eco-therapy aims to raise the general consciousness around planting and personal benefits from tendering to Papatuanuku, our mother-nature.

All Downtown Eco-therapy events have re-homed saplings into tetra-packs, sourced from local Wellington cafes, otherwise rendered trash and destined for the landfill.

The Downtown Eco-therapy element at the 350 Climate Day of Action is supported at this event by Novotel on the Terrace and the 350-volunteers.
