NZ's Biggest Cheerleading Competition this Sunday

Numbers confirmed at 1000+ for New Zealands Biggest Cheerleading Competition this Sunday

Sunday 8th of November
Bruce Mason Centre, Takapuna

You will not want to miss our country’s top athletes battle it out for the number one spot you can on Sunday 8th of November at the Bruce Mason Centre in Takapuna. Over 1000 cheerleaders and dancers from Australia, Christchurch, Wellington, Palmerston North, Tauranga, Hamilton, Hibiscus Coast, Whangarei,Kerikeri and Auckland will be at the NZ All Star Cheer and Dance Internationals all hoping to claim the top spot.


100 Cheerleaders fly in from Australia on Saturday ready to try and take the title of International Champions. Cheerleading keeps getting bigger in New Zealand and the amount of team entries in this competition confirms this, with over 75 teams and 1000 cheerleaders and dancers this is the biggest competition New Zealand will have ever witnessed!

New Zealand’s top team made up of Cheerleaders from the best of the best will be at the competition defending their recent first place from Spring Carnival! The team who are hot in demand all over Auckland this coming month are busily preparing themselves for the World Championships in 2010 to try and better their last effort in June 2009 of third place! If you would like to see the team ranked third in the world in action , they will be performing at the conclusion of the novice session as well competing during the elite session.

A partnership between the New Zealand Cheerleading Association (NZCA) and All Star Cheerleaders, the International Cheerleading and Dance Championships is expected to attract 3000 spectators from around New Zealand and Australia.

Cheerleading is one of the fastest growing team sports in America and the UK and is now enjoying a new profile in New Zealand. Its newfound popularity has gained a lot of attention, with All Star cheerleaders receiving coverage from both print and TV News with the most recent appearance being on the hit TV show New Zealand Smashes World records, where our cheerleaders broke the world record for the most cheerleaders in a mini and the world’s HIGHEST cheerleading basket toss!!!

Anyone Interested in a fast dynamic and skilled sporting competition is welcome to come along on Sunday 8th of November 2009. The event promises to be one filled with excitement and a display of the best in competitive cheer from around New Zealand.
