2010 2XU Ruapehu Cycle Classic
Saturday, 6 February, 2010 marks the date for the event touted as "the great little race", the 2XU Ruapehu Cycle Classic.
Entrants are assured this is a fun ride, 160kms of pure pleasure! Starting at the alpine village of Ohakune, the 160km course takes in the spectacular scenery of the Central Plateau, the Desert Road and the Tongariro National Park.
The event garners great support from the local community, and while it is growing year-on-year, there is a friendly personal feeling to the event, bringing many competitors back year after year.
Fun ride or race, the 2XU Ruapehu Cycle Classic has traditionally attracted some of New Zealand's top cyclists and 2010 will be no exception. Top NZ rep, Toni Bradshaw, who smashed the women’s record by a convincing 33 minutes in 2009, is confirmed in the women's field and Aaron Strong, who was on fine form for the 2009 Tour of Southland, in the men's field.
Early bird pricing available before 31 January, so be in quick!
