Aucklanders Bank on Ticket Out of the City
It seems that many Auckland residents are banking on a $25 sales promotion to be their ‘million dollar ticket’ to a rural lifestyle.
Murray and Michelle Smith of Cambridge, New Zealand are giving away their million dollar home for just $25 as part of the promotion of a new website – www.apieceofnz.co.nz . They aim to raise just over $1 million by 31 January and with just five days to go, they have reached the $839,000 mark.
Over 87,000 New Zealanders have visited the website, with the majority of those people being residents of Auckland or its suburbs.
“With such large numbers of people from Auckland buying photos on our website, it is a very good indicator that the opportunity to own a lovely property, such as ours overlooking Lake Karapiro, holds really significant appeal.
“Winning a home in this beautiful rural setting only minutes out of picturesque Cambridge township, obviously strikes a chord with folk who are enduring city stresses and dreaming of being able to move to a quieter community lifestyle,” comments Murray Smith.
By purchasing a set of iconic New Zealand photos for just $25, the ‘A Piece of NZ’ promotion gives people a chance to win the Smith’s five-bedroom house with lake views, incorporating two self-contained guest units. The home has been independently valued at over $1 million dollars.
All of the stunning photographs available for purchase on the promotional website have been taken within a five minute drive of the Smith’s Lake Karapiro home.
All proceeds from the Smith’s million dollar home promotion go to the Synergy (Cambridge) Trust which is the umbrella for Bridges Church in the town of Cambridge. The donation from the Smiths will help fund the construction of a new church and community centre.
The www.apieceofnz.co.nz promotion closes on Sunday, 31 January 2010 at 5pm. The winner will be announced on Monday, 8 February. Entrants can view terms and conditions on the website.
The sales promotion can be followed on Twitter and Facebook and a range of videos are available on YouTube.
