Soul Bar & Bistro To Transform Auckland Viaduct

23 February 2010

Soul Bar & Bistro To Transform Auckland Viaduct
Soul Bar & Bistro’s Garden of Soul

Over six enchanting days in early March, Auckland’s Viaduct precinct will be dramatically transformed with Soul Bar & Bistro’s magical Garden of Soul.

For the first time Soul Bar & Bistro will literally come alive; as a living, breathing secret garden for patrons to indulge their senses. From complimentary cocktails in the lush surrounds, to a live band and DJ performances from George FM, there is something for everyone looking for a good time.

The Garden of Soul parties spanning four days each have a unique theme.
Thursday, 4 March Havana Heaven, 7 pm onwards
Friday, 5 March Garden of Soul, 7 pm onwards
Saturday, 6 March Morning Glory High Tea, 11 am – 4 pm
Garden of Good and Evil Masquerade Party, 10 pm onwards
Sunday, 7 March Fire & Brimstone Barbecue, 4 pm – 7 pm

With its design inspired by the royal greenhouses of Kew Gardens, Xanthe White Designs has planned an extraordinary and elaborate transformation. Over 500 plants will be installed to create this opulent space.

Designer Xanthe White has always thought the Viaduct was missing some garden magic, and is excited to have a play. Without giving too much away, White says to “expect chandeliers draped in fragrant tuber roses and lush green plantings peppered with seasonal orchids”. She goes onto say that the highlight for her will be the green walls of reeds enclosing the terrace, and what the patrons think.

Soul Bar & Bistro proprietor Judith Tabron says “with the talk of our long balmy summer coming to an end, I want to offer Aucklanders the perfect excuse to make the most of the outdoors right in the heart of the city, and give summer the most beautiful swan song yet”.

The Garden of Soul will launch Thursday, 4 March at midday and will come to an end Tuesday, 9 March.
