Faith in Dark Colours

Faith in Dark Colours

US band Faith No More were just in New Zealand and the bassist Billy Gould (who also runs US indie label Koolarrow Records) met with local director Shaun Garea and offered support for his latest film project 'A Dream of Dark Colours'.

A Dream of Dark Colours will be a feature film shot in NZ and is based on the novel 'The Trial' by Czech author Franz Kafka. The story follows Joseph K who awakes one morning to find himself placed under arrest by a mysterious court and is never told what he is charged with, Garea says 'its very relevant today, the story hasnt aged, it deals with power, government, frustration and absurdity'.

Work has been underway now for well over a year with Garea shooting a 'video presentation' which featured several key scenes from the script in order to better convey his vision for the project, this presentaion featured local actors: Charles Grubb, Janina Matthewson, Grant Edgar, Adam Jones and also US actor Stig Eldred (now based in Christchurch) whose film and tv credits include Dick Tracey, CSI NY, King Kong and more! The scenes were put together then scored by 'Honoured Artist of the Ukraine' Anatoliy Zelinskyy with his soulful viola.

Now with Billy Gould backing the project with his bands from Koolarrow Records hopes are very high to get this project shot over the next two years but there is still alot of work to come.

Acting as Consulting Producer is Richard Bell (who runs film based production company Shuriken and also has an extensive history overseas in music videos and film) whose experience is an ivaluable tool in shaping the future of the project.
