Seeking Casanova in Auckland
Seeking Casanova in Auckland
The search is on for the world’s most famous lover ... or at least a strong singer who can take on the part.
Opera director Linda Kitchen is seeking a charismatic young man to play the part of Casanova in The Casanova Project, an innovative new musical theatre project which fuses together Mozart's opera Don Giovanni, hip hop, contemporary sound and youth culture. The project involves talented secondary school students from South Auckland, working alongside professional artists. Already confirmed is well-known singer Tina Cross.
The role of Casanova is open to a new boy on the block or a seasoned professional from opera or music theatre backgrounds and will be playing Casanova from 25 to 40 years. Development and workshops for the project take place June to mid-August 2010 leading to performances, at the TelstraClear Pacific Events Centre in Autumn 2011.
Auditions for Casanova are at the TelstraClear Pacific Events Centre, Manukau on Wednesday 28 April 11am to 8p. Register at thecasanovaproject@me.com
