Emirates Team New Zealand: Two Days without a Race
Emirates Team New Zealand Update - Two Days without a Race
Emirates Team New Zealand ended the second day of the Louis Vuitton Trophy regatta at La Maddalena still without a start.
First the breeze and then damage to one of the race yachts conspired against them. Emirates Team New Zealand should have sailed three races by the end of today.
Today the breeze again was slow to settle and fill in. Racing was delayed from the scheduled 10am start to just after 1pm when a north-east breeze of up to 8 knots was across the course.
Two flights (four races) were sailed. Then a problem with a winch on one of the two Mascalzone Latino yachts delayed the start of the third flight match between Emirates Team New Zealand and Aleph (France).
The second match of flight, Azzurra (Italy) v Synergy (Russia), started but was called off soon after the yachts crossed the line.
Tomorrow: Emirates Team New Zealand v TeamOrigin.
Abandoned matches against BMWOracle, Artemis and Aleph will be sailed in the days ahead if time (and the weather) allow.
Results Day 2
Flight 4: All4One b Azzurra by 20s
Aleph b BMW Oracle by 28s
Flight 5: Mascalzone Latino b Azzurra by 5s
Artemis b TeamOrigin by 45s
Tomorrow the breeze looks better – perhaps getting up to 20 knots.
