Official Beer of the Whitianga Scallop Festival

Announcing the Official Beer of the Whitianga Scallop Festival – Monteith’s

Monteith’s is delighted to announce it is the Official Beer of the 2010 Whitianga Scallop Festival.

The Festival, now in its sixth year, has gained a reputation for delivering a not-to-be-missed experience to the popular Coromandel town of Whitianga and everyone that visits it for the Festival.

Setting up camp in front of the main stage, Monteith’s will be offering visitors its brand of hospitality and combining it with the fresh, quality seafood the region is known for. Visitors to the stand can witness first-hand Monteith’s food-matching aptitude as Chefs prepare scallop dishes created with a Monteith’s variant in mind, as well as sample the Monteith’s range of beer and cider.

Marketing manager for Monteith’s, Russell Browne, comments, “It’s not so widely known that beer matches with food just as well as wine does; Monteith’s is dedicated to making this fact a little wider known and hopes that our support of food events, like Whitianga Scallop Festival, will help get the word out there.

“We will have Chefs whipping up culinary delights throughout the day that are created with Monteith’s in mind. Savour the recommended Monteith’s beer or cider whilst enjoying the dish and you will see just how well beer and food combine together.”

Browne says that Monteith’s craft origins are a great complement to the Scallop Festival itself and he is looking forward to sampling some dishes the Chefs create.

All entrants to the Festival receive a complimentary wine or beer glass, enabling all to enjoy the music, entertainment and food on offer while having a drink in hand.

The 2010 Whitianga Scallop Festival is on Saturday, 28 August 2010. Tickets are on sale now for $50.00. See www.iticket.co.nz to purchase.
