It’s here – the 2010 Unison Winterfest
It’s here – the 2010 Unison Winterfest
The finishing touches are being made on plans for the Unison Winterfest, being held next Saturday, 10 July.
Co-ordinated by Towncentre Taupo, the Unison Winterfest will include the inaugural Ebbett Taupo Trolley Derby, a repeat of the Seays Snowpark and a free drive-in movie.
“We’ve got loads of fun, free, family activities for Unison Winterfest,” said Towncentre Taupo General Manager, Kylie Hawker. “This event is all about celebrating our place as an alpine town, and having fun with family and friends.”
“We’re really excited about Winterfest,” said Ms Hawker. “We’ve built on the success of last year, and have a few new activities to add to the fun!”
Various activities taking place over the day include:
- Ebbett Taupo Trolley Derby – a new
event where groups or individuals can build and race a
trolley down Ferry Road hill from 11am. For registration
and event information, contact the Towncentre Office or
visit www.towncentretaupo.co.nz
-
- Seay’s Snowpark
– after the success of last year, the snowpark has been
expanded and moved on the Tongariro Domain for 2010. Be
there from 9am onwards to play in the snow!
-
- Shop
Taupo, Win Big prize draw – the major prize draw for this
six week campaign takes place at 2pm on the Tongariro
Domain. You need to be there to win. One lucky entrants
name will be drawn, and they will enter the prize tent, and
have 60 seconds to memorize as many of the prizes as
possible. Whatever prizes they can then list to the MC,
they keep. We’ll keep drawing names and sending winners
into the prize tent until all $10,000 worth of prizes have
been claimed.
-
- Ice Sculptures - we’ll be having
renowned Ice carver, Logan Shipgood, in Taupo for the day.
He will be bringing a number of ice creations with him, that
will be displayed around town, as well as carving a special
sculpture from ice outside Whitcoulls. Be there from 11am to
watch him work.
-
Jagermeister Unison Winterfest
Stage – Throughout the day, we’ll be having a range of
fun activities taking place on the Jagermeister stage,
including DJ OJ, a fashion parade at 11am, and a free
concert by renowned band, Triple J, at
1pm.
