Wellington Interior Designer Wins Gold Award
Wellington Interior Designer Takes Trends Gold
Award
At the National Kitchen and Bathroom Awards in Queenstown last Saturday night, Wellington interior designer Debra DeLorenzo won two awards including Wellington Best Bathroom, a Trends Gold Award and was a People’s Choice finalist.
DeLorenzo’s winning entry for Wellington Best Bathroom was particularly rewarding as she won it for an ensuite in her own historic Wellington house which featured patterned wallpaper, laser cut steel window treatments, custom black and white floor tiling and a Brillante Pendant Tonda chandelier.
“I am delighted that a more traditional design was recognised by the judges,” said Mrs DeLorenzo.
The NKBA design awards have been running for 27 years and this year saw the introduction of the Trends Gold Awards for the kitchens and bathrooms. These two awards will be promoted internationally by Trends Publishing to showcase New Zealand design.
“We were very impressed with the number and quality of entries, from what are obviously world class designers throughout New Zealand,” said Trends Awards liaison, Zoe Dedes.
“Debra’s designs are beautiful. The combination of traditional and modern elements with meticulous attention to detail make them stand out,” said Ms Dedes.
“Winning the Trends Gold Award for my bathroom is a huge honour. To have my work recognised by a design publication respected around the world is quite humbling,’ said Mrs DeLorenzo.
DeLorenzo is already featured on the New Zealand and Australian covers of Bathroom Trends with another one of her designs.
Awards judging was conducted blind with entrant details hidden until the winning designs were chosen. The People’s Choice Award was run online at trendsideas.com and over 1,300 votes were received from throughout the world.
