Ultimate winter holiday for Sydney prize winners
"A magical experience we’ll never forget” was the verdict of the Winter Festival competition winners who left Queenstown recently after enjoying a five-day all expenses paid holiday.
The Andrews family, who hail from Connells Point in Sydney, won the Aus$18,000 prize package through a joint Winter Festival, Air New Zealand, American Express and Destination Queenstown promotion run on the east coast of Australia.
The prize package included return flights for four people flying Air New Zealand Business Class, luxury accommodation at Commonage Villas including a private chef dinner for four people plus stocked pantry and wine, NZSki package, and five day car hire through Avis. Activities included a scenic helicopter flight with champagne mountaintop landing, a jet boating trip, a wine trail, and VIP tickets to the Lindauer Masquerade Ball, Canadian Club Comedy Gala, and Mountain Scene’s Thriller in the Chiller boxing event.
It was the Andrews family’s first visit to Queenstown but it definitely won’t be their last.
“On a scale of one to
10, Queenstown is way beyond 10,” says Thekla Andrews.
“We can’t wait to come back again next year. The kids
have already been Facebooking their friends about all their
adventures.
“We were excited about coming to Queenstown
after the research we’d done but nothing prepared us for
how beautiful it is here. Our holiday was absolutely
fantastic, we did so many amazing things we wouldn’t have
normally done at home and everyone we’ve met has been so
welcoming and down to earth.”
Air New Zealand promotion partner Andrew Stanbury, the airline’s Marketing Manager for Australia, says the aim of the competition was to provide the winners with an unforgettable Queenstown experience.
“We wanted to promote something extra special for the Australian market interested in winter holidays and with the help of all of the partners we certainly did that. We had a huge response to this promotion and the Andrews family have enjoyed a great experience they will remember, and of course talk about, for a very long time.”
