Next major ‘A Piece of NZ’ announced

Not a Million Dollar Home Giveaway, But $25,000 in Appliances Will Do

Murray and Michelle Smith gave away their million dollar home through the ‘A Piece of NZ’ promotion in February and as of today that ‘chapter’ in their promotion – and lives – is well and truly behind them.

The winner of the home, Warwick Hutchison of Auckland, auctioned the house in Cambridge today, which was bought by Craig and Tammy Ramsay - who moved to Cambridge from South Africa eight weeks ago - for $807,000.

The Smiths today also announced their next major ‘A Piece of NZ’ promotion in partnership with nationwide appliance chain, 100%.

Anyone purchasing a product from the range of merchandise on the promotional website - www.apieceofnz.co.nz - is eligible to win a $25,000 appliance shopping spree.

The promotion begins on Monday, 19 July, ends on September 10 and the draw will occur on 14 September.

The promotion is in support of the ‘A Piece of NZ’ brand which was established in November 2009 to raise funds for the building of a church and community centre in Cambridge, New Zealand.

Murray and Michelle Smith, who pastor Bridges Church in Cambridge, gave away their million dollar, Lake Karapiro home in February as a prize which raised over $1.22 million in funds for the new complex. All proceeds from the current 100% shopping spree promotion will also go toward the building fund.

The Centre will cost approximately $3 million to build and will have an auditorium, café, function rooms, and special areas for youth and children’s activities. The ‘A Piece of NZ’ promotion has raised just over $1,251,500 toward the building project so far.

Initial site works for the Centre are completed and stage one construction is starting soon.

Murray and Michelle say they are grateful to have the support of a well-respected, high profile nationwide appliance chain.

“We didn’t have another million dollar home to give away, but thanks to 100% people have the chance to win a $25,000 shopping spree while helping raise funds for a great cause,” says Murray.

Promotion terms and conditions are available on the website: www.apieceofnz.co.nz . The promotion can also be followed on Facebook and Twitter.
