APO Unravels Mysteries Of Beethovens Seventh

--FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE---

APO Unravels Mysteries Of Beethovens Seventh Symphony In Special Concert

Segments of Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony can be found in films and television advertisements, but the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra and Australian conductor Graham Abbott unravel the mysteries of this great symphony in a special concert, Unwrap The Music in August.

The concert on Thursday 12 August is designed to help people gain insight and understanding into classical music, and features Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony – dissected and then played in its entirety.

Graham Abbott is the presenter of ABC Classic FM’s Keys to Music series and says the Unwrap The Music concerts give people the chance to hear things they could never hear in a live performance or recording.

“Pulling apart the music to find out a little of how it ticks is a great way to appreciate the composer’s work,” he says. ‘It’s for anyone who loves music and wants to find out more and no previous experience is required. I don’t want to tell people what to think, or even what to hear, but I do want to give them some signposts regarding what’s going on and to share what I think are some awesome things in the music.”

Graham says Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony is his favourite symphony and he jumped at the chance to “pull it apart with the APO.

“Many regard it as Beethoven’s greatest symphony, if not the best symphony ever written by anyone.”

In the concert, Graham says he will be focusing on what makes the symphony special and why some people, when they first heard it, thought Beethoven had gone completely mad.

The Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra’s Unwrap the Music concert featuring Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony is on Thursday 12 August at Auckland Town Hall, THE EDGE at 6.30pm. Tickets are $25 adults and seniors and $10 for students and are available by phoning 0800 BUYTICKETS (289 842) or online at www.buytickets.co.nz
