Award winning New Zealand Artist exhibits in Rotorua
The forthcoming art exhibition held in conjunction with the Wearable Creations will contain art for sale from one of New Zealand’s foremost artists.
Recognised for his contribution to New Zealand Art, Michael Smither won a major Australian Art Award in the 1960s, and in 2004 he was made a Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit for his services to the Arts. Spanning a lengthy career Michael has produced a vast and varied body of work, held in Private collections all over New Zealand and Australia. He Exhibits paintings, sculptures and integrates his musical expertise in his art.
Michael will join 70 other artists for what will be one of the biggest exhibitions of its kind in the Bay of Plenty. Over 200 pieces of art will be for sale offering the public one of the largest and most diverse exhibitions of New Zealand Art ever shown in one place in the Bay of Plenty.
“This exhibition will provide the public an opportunity to view art from a diverse range of artists, style and media.” says Mijo Katavic, Trustee of the Creative Art Trust. “Having an artist of Michaels standing exhibit at our event is a fantastic opportunity for our community.”

that it has to offer. The Exhibition opens to the public on
Monday 23rd August, and continues through Saturday, August
28th. Each day between 11am and 2pm, an artist will be
working within the exhibition allowing the public a unique
opportunity to view an artist at work.
