The Erica Miller Experience Nationwide Tour

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 25 AUG
THE ERICA MILLER EXPERIENCE

ANNOUNCES A NATIONWIDE TOUR

"Shayne Carter's mum releases her debut album at age 64 and it's an album of Elvis covers with some well known and not so well known tracks including a beautifully rousing version of "Long Black Limousine". Miller's voice is not for the faint hearted, since it's well and truly lived a life, but she's also got sass and soul and raises a little bit of hell on raucous centrepiece "Big Boss Man" (4 out of 5 stars - Scott Kara - NZ Herald)

"Miller takes a selection of Elvis hits and obscure album cuts and makes them her own..human and heartfelt and true..you should care because it's good.." (Grant Smithies - Sunday Star Times)

It's been a big month for Erica Miller. Her debut album "Reconsidered", a personal and soulful take on tunes first performed by Elvis Presley, has been released to warm acclaim from the nation's leading critics and widespread airplay on the B-net network. Now she is gearing up for her maiden national tour, journeying through New Zealand's main centres in October.

"‘Reconsidered’ is a lounge lizard's dream.. an at times spooky and always heartfelt interpretation of some great tunes" (Gary Steel - METRO Magazine )

Accompanying her will be the six piece band that performed on "Reconsidered" , a collection of mostly Dunedin musicians brought together for this one of a kind project. A stunning array of players - from the familiar to the new, all unforgettable.

The Erica Miller Experience has several notable artists in its ranks. Miller will be joined by drummer Marcel Rodeka (ex Mother Goose), keyboardist Aidan Fraser (Conray) and saxophonist Paul Young (both from dub/roots band Koile), guitarist Tom Healy (The Jen Cloher band, The Verlaines), Miller's son Shayne Carter (Dimmer, Straitjacket Fits) on guitar as well as accompanying talented solo artist Hannah Curwood on backing vocals.

Joining the core group will be bassist Jack Hiku, who as well as being a long respected figure on the Dunedin scene, also gains extra kudos for having grown up in the same Brockville street as Miller and her family. Jack's recruitment in the band continues the feeling of whanau that has pervaded the entire project - "Reconsidered" was funded, convened, produced, documented, and, yes, partly performed by members of Miller's family.

"This album has a kind of dark intensity which takes it a long way from a karaoke bar or just another vanity project. This often has nerve jangling intensity and the slightly distant sound of the band adds an eerie dimension. You feel you are eavesdropping on a private session in an empty club when Miller has had a quiet drink after the show, and pulled the band back to really dig deep into a set list which might have been served up in a perfunctory manner earlier in the night" (Graham Reid - Elsewhere)

This will be a completely unique show. Expect more of the soulfulness, grittiness and class that marks the debut album of the Erica Miller Experience. No karaoke. No cheese. Just Erica, her smoking hot band and a canny selection of fantastic tunes "Reconsidered".

"'Reconsidered' is notable both for its musical muscle and deft touches. With her vibrato nicely suspended in a '60's - era reverberation, Erica times her delivery expertly, soulfully and with just enough grit to let the listener know she has traversed some interesting terrain in her lifetime " (Shane Gilchrist - Otago Daily Times)
