Round-the-world walker to receive Civic Welcome in Waitakere City
Canadian, Jean Béliveau will experience a warm Waitakere welcome when he arrives in Auckland this week, to make final preparations for his walk from Bluff to Cape Reinga.
Jean left his home 10 years ago to walk around the world in support of the UNESCO international decade (2001-2010) for peace and non-violence for children.
Jean is undertaking a phenomenal feat to promote peace for children. He is crossing 64 countries ... and New Zealand is the last country before he returns to Canada. He has been through 48 pairs of shoes, stayed in thousands of different homes, eaten amazing things, and met incredible people.
Media are invited to attend the Civic Welcome as follows: 1pm, Friday 1 October Waitakere City Council Chambers 6 Henderson Valley Rd Henderson
The Civic Welcome will be hosted by Waitakere City Council, Community Waitakere, and Barnardos New Zealand. ENDS
