Ballantynes helps dress racegoers

Ballantynes helps dress racegoers

To ensure Cantabrians are looking their very best at this year’s New Zealand Cup and Show Week, Ballantynes is running special racewear workshops and VIP styling sessions in the lead up to the festival.

Richard Ballantyne says this will be a great opportunity for racegoers to get some inspiration for their Cup and Show Week fashion statements.

“Cantabrians have been attending these events for years, so a few new ideas to raise the fashion stakes at Cup Day won’t go a miss. ‘Dressing Up’ is part and parcel of the fun!

“We’ll be giving advice such as how to apply day make-up, what accessories you need, last minute finishing touches and even how ladies can help style their men.”

The workshops are being held every Friday in October at the Ballantynes Dilmah t-house between 11:30am – 12:30pm and 1 – 2pm. Personal ‘Style Me’ sessions are also being offered and are available upon request.

Ladies can show off their racing style at Addington’s Best Dressed at the Races and Riccarton’s Fashion in the Field competitions, which are now open for registrations online at www.nzcupandshow.co.nz or in-store at Ballantynes.

Christchurch City Council Marketing Manager Richard Stokes says after recent events in Canterbury, everyone is in need of a bit of pampering and celebrating.

“Spring is in the air and people are starting to feel a bit more positive about life. So it’s time to show the rest of the country, and the world, that we’re not flattened – but a recovering city that’s ready to have a good time,” he says.

The icon events will be back this year, with the Christchurch Casino New Zealand Trotting Cup at Addington Raceway on Tuesday 9 November and its official pre-race festival held at the Christchurch Casino during the morning.

The Canterbury A&P Show, which attracts the week’s biggest crowds, will run from Wednesday 10 to Friday 12 November. The latest in agribusiness will be showcased, with woodchopping, trade exhibits, livestock, demonstrations, competitions, live music and premium food and wine.

Christchurch Casino New Zealand Cup Day at Riccarton Park on Saturday 13 November will again finish off the week’s activities with a bang.

“NZ Cup and Show Week is always celebrated in spectacular style – and this year, more than ever, it will be a time for people to come together and have some well deserved fun,” says Mr Stokes.

Due to limited response (given recent events) Ballantynes has decided to postpone this Friday's Charity Fashion event to be rescheduled and run in conjunction with the unveiling of the Ballantynes’ Christmas Windows on Friday 26 November.

This event will occur outside of NZ Cup and Show Week, however those who have already purchased tickets will still be able to attend and be eligible to win the Ballantynes and NZ Cup and Show Week prize package.
