New Zealand band to feature in Famous French Music
Festival
Tuesday 9 November 2010
New Zealand
band, Conan Mockasin, will be performing at the
Trans-Musical Encounters Festival in Rennes, France from 9
to 11 December 2010.
Every year since 1979 this French festival has explored current musical trends, introducing music lovers to up-and-coming artists. Mano Negra, Nirvana, Björk, Portishead, Ben Harper, and Lenny Kravitz are just a few of the international acts to have featured in the festival’s line-up over the years.
This year over 73 bands, made up of performers of sixteen different nationalities stemming from each continent, will take part in the thirty-second edition of the Trans-Musical Encounters Festival.
Conan Mockasin, an indie-rock trio originally known as Conan and the Mockasins, was formed in Wellington in 2004. Founder Connan Hosford (vocals) and the two original band members Ross Walker (upright acoustic bass) and Seamus Ebbs (drums) relocated to England in 2006 but continued to return home regularly to participate in various gigs and tours. The new-look Conan Mockasin came into being in 2008 following the departure of Walker and Ebbs in 2007. In the same year Hosford took part in numerous musical collaborations with the likes of Fatboy Slim and Liam Finn. This year the band released its fourth album Please Turn me into the Snat.
