Traditional Thanksgiving Kai
Traditional Thanksgiving Kai
The annual Thanksgiving Lunch, hosted by Downtown Community Ministry (DCM), the American Embassy and the Wellington Chefs Association, will be held next week on Wednesday 24 November.
DCM’s service users will enjoy a gourmet lunch, complete with traditional Thanksgiving kai – like roast turkey, roast vegetables and cranberry sauce. There will also be pecan pie for dessert.
Over 120 guests are expected to attend, and will be waited upon just as though they were in a top-class restaurant. The quality of the food will certainly be top-class with it being prepared by Wellington members of the NZ Chefs Association.
Jennifer Stewart, communications and events coordinator says, “We are especially grateful to the American Embassy and the Chefs Association for supporting our service users in this way and giving them a special treat and meal at this time of year when many of us take celebrations and good company for granted.”
DCM staff will also be providing musical entertainment for the guests from our resident musicians, community workers Alan Norman and Dougal Speir.
The lunch will be held at the Wesley Church Hall on Taranaki Street at 12 noon.
