Launch of Outgames Arts and Culture Festival

A huge arts festival that will be part of the 2nd AsiaPacific Outgames is being launched in Wellington on Thursday December 16.

The hugely colourful and spectacular show Queen of the Whole Universe is coming to the capital for one show only.

While many of the events will take place around the week of the Outgames (12-19 March 2011), the festival is being launched at the opening of the first exhibition, All the Cunning Stunts, A Courtenay Place Light Box Project. Works are by Liz Allan, Clare Noonan, Rachel O'Neill, and Marnie Slater, and curated by Mary-Jane Duffy.

The launch will take place on Thursday 16 December at 5.30pm at The Jimmy Café & Bar, 77–87 Courtenay Place, Wellington. Artists and VIPs will be present, and supporters are welcome. Details of the arts and culture events can be found on the website www.wellingtonoutgames.com/culture. While the festival features the works of LGBTI artists and performers, festival events are open to anyone. The 2nd AsiaPacific Outgames will be held 12–19 March 2011 in Wellington, New Zealand. In addition to the Arts and Culture Festival, it includes competitions in 17 different sports and a human rights conference at the Wellington Town Hall.
